Green Roofs
Green Roof systems are more popular in Europe than in the U.S. Environmental Building News (EBN) states that green roofs can detain over 50% of rainwater from a typical storm. They can have higher life-span with less maintenance than a traditional roof. They can also be aesthetically pleasing with native grasses and wildflowers.

Garland Company

A few words from Garland: Environmental responsibility and building sustainability has long been a primary concern to The Garland Company, Inc. The GreenShield green roofing system has been a natural evolution in our 100-year-plus tradition of product innovations that are good for building owners and good for the planet. As the first North American roofing company to manufacture modified bitumen roofing membranes, Garland has been expanding the aesthetic, functional and ecological possibilities of commercial roofing for over a century with GreenShield - An environmentally friendly green roof system that provides both aesthetic and environmental benefits. StressPly Plus - The first modified bitumen membrane that helps reduce landfill waste by using recycled rubber from scrap tires. BlackKnight - Modified coal tar pitch roofing material which we have reduced the volatile emissions by 50% through advanced manufacturing techniques and by incorporating a rubber polymer. R-Mer Lite - This is a low slope metal roof system that incorporates 66% recycled steel and is nearly 100% recyclable at the end of its useful life.
