Who should attend?

A unique opportunity to learn about natural building theory and design, while also participating in the hands-on construction of a hybrid straw-bale and straw-clay farm office building at the George Jones Memorial Farm in Oberlin, OH.

Objective:

Friday evening's presentation, "An Introduction to Natural Building," is free and open to the public. Registration is required and space is limited.

For a more thorough and hands-on experience with natural building, please register for either the 2-day weekend Natural Building Workshop or the full 5-day Natural Building Workshop. Both workshops begin with the Friday evening presentation, and continue with the actual construction of an 18 x 34 ft. hybrid straw-bale and straw-clay farm office building.

The 2-day weekend workshop is aimed at those with a general interest in natural building; participants will receive hands-on instruction in all aspects of the construction process, from stacking bales to applying finish plasters.

The full 5-day workshop is aimed at those seeking a more in-depth understanding of natural building; participants will have additional time to practice the techniques learned over the weekend and also be able to assist with the mechanical application of plaster using a stucco pump.

In addition, for those planning on building in the near future, Mark and Chris will have time to discuss your project on an individual basis during the extra three days of this 5-day workshop. The building is located at the George Jones Memorial Farm in Oberlin on State Route 511, 1/3 mile west of SR-20.

Natural Building Construction Workshop registration includes an information packet and the following meals: Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner; Sunday breakfast and lunch; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday lunch.

There are a limited number of scholarships available. Please contact Amy Roskilly at Cleveland Green Building Coalition - 216/961-8850 x301, if you are interested.
